How to Help Kids Cope With Domestic Violence

As many as ten million children witness violence between their caregivers each year. Parents involved in a violent relationship may think that the fighting does not affect their children or may not be aware their children know about the violence. Even children who do not see domestic violence are affected by the conflict in the family. Here are some ways parents can help their child regain trust in the world: 
 

  • Help increase your child's sense of security. 
  • Maintain a routine and prepare your child for any changes. 
  • Help your child as the cope with the trauma and be understanding of any associated behavioral issues.
